How heavily was this story covered in the news? I just heard about it today. She was a young, black woman from Cali arrested in September 2009 because she couldn’t pay for an $89 dollar meal. The police released her at strange hours of the night…she didn’t have a purse nor a cell phone. She had been missing since the release.

Witnesses claimed to have seen her in Vegas in June of this year, but that was obviously a lie. Her skeletal remains were found earlier this week, and today, it has been confirmed that the remains belong to her.

She was a beautiful woman. Lesbian. Grad student.

My condolences to her family, friend, and girlfriend.

All of this because she couldn’t pay for a meal? Or are we missing some important piece to the puzzle? Either way, she shouldn’t have been released when she was. This may have simply been an accident, or it could be murder. Either way, the sheriffs are responsible.

So she loses her life over food? what’s this world coming to? One thing i can’t be stingy about is food, let alone some precious soul losing their life because of someone’s greed. Take her to court if $89 will cause your restaurant to shut down. Ugh stuff like this pisses me off!
